Visceral Synthesis is a method of addressing dysfunction in the body by treating the whole person on all levels: the affected structure and also the context which allowed for the problem in the first place.

A healthy system must have motion. If motion is absent, then freeing up the restriction in the body will restore proper function. However, treating the restriction itself does not always treat the cause – we must also ask why the restriction occurred in the first place, for it might have been just a symptom of a deeper problem. If we eradicate the symptom without first understanding the reason, this is analogous to taking Tylenol for a fever without going after the infection. Only in this way can we help patients realize profound and lasting change.

How does Visceral Synthesis work?

Visceral Synthesis brings together multiple perspectives, along with our clinical experience, to create a flexible approach to addressing the needs of our patients’ ever-changing and unique anatomies, stories and needs. It incorporates hands-on treatment of the musculoskeletal system, the craniosacral system and the viscera/organs combined with homeopathic remedies to treat the whole person structurally, emotionally and energetically.

Visceral Synthesis encourages patients to participate in, and take ownership of, their own healing because their awareness and growth is integral to their healing. Biochemical, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and energetic factors all contribute to the creation and/or maintenance of restriction in the body, and shining the light of consciousness on these various aspects is critical to supporting the healing process. Thus, patients gain insight into themselves and their lives for having walked this path together with the practitioner.
