Specialty Naturopathic Medicine in Edmonds, WA

Water and Stone Wellness was founded by Naturopathic doctor Greg Yasuda who is joined by his colleague Dr Colleen Jamieson. Together they aim to create a healing space that opens a dialogue between mind, body and and soul.

Their unique approach allows the body to prioritize what needs to happen to move in a healing direction. Each visit is unique and tailored to the patient and not the symptoms.

They frequently use a mix of hands-on treatment including visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy, homeopathy, energetic work, hydrotherapy and sometimes even poetry.

What we Treat

Great question! Unfortunately, that’s often the question that keeps us from attaining the healing results we’re hoping for.

The truth is…
Some health complaints can be treated directly, like broken bones or bacterial infections, and this type of treatment is generally very successful.

However, that’s not why most patients come in to see us. Most people who come to us are suffering from conditions that have been difficult to treat – and that means something has been missed.

Ironically, treatment focused on a specific condition, disease or symptom often causes us to miss something.

We need to look at the whole person.

The cast doesn’t actually heal the fractured bone, does it? The same way stitches don’t heal the incision. They just make it easier for the body to heal itself. Even antibiotics won’t heal an infection without a functional immune system. Casts and stitches and antibiotics help to remove impediments to the natural healing processes of the body – the whole body – and to create the conditions that support a speedy recovery.

What else can impede the body’s healing?

This is the most important question to ask if you’re suffering from any chronic or difficult to treat condition, whether it’s headaches, digestive complaints or musculoskeletal pain from an injury.

In our experience, loss of motion in a particular part of the body (in a joint or even in an organ) can slow or block the body’s natural healing ability.

The location of the pain is often not the location of the problem.

The body is designed to work as a whole system. If anything in the body cannot move, then everything connected to that structure will also have impaired movement and function.

Everything in the body is connected, so something like a restricted liver can lead to symptoms as varied as varicose veins, sciatica, headaches and joint pain.

To successfully resolve these issues, we need to not treat the symptom, but rather search for and treat the actual the cause.

Our Philosophy

At Water and Stone Wellness, we believe that

Life is motion.
A healthy living system must have motion.
If you lose motion, you lose function
By restoring motion we can restore function.

At Water and Stone Wellness we believe in creating space to listen to the wisdom inherent in your body.

What is your body trying to tell you?

We partner with you to help you

  • Feel at home in your body

  • Rebound from physical trauma

  • End cycles of pain

What is the body already doing to try to heal itself, and how can we help it do that? – Bill Mitchell ND

Say hello to our team

Meet Dr. Greg Yasuda

Dr. Greg Yasuda has been in private practice since 2003 and is Associate Dean and Assistant Professor in Bastyr University’s School of Naturopathic Medicine. His clinical interests include chronic pain, chronic fatigue, digestive problems and immune system dysregulation, including chronic inflammation, allergies and autoimmunity. He is also a contributing editor of the chapter on Rheumatoid arthritis in the Textbook of Natural Medicine, 4th ed.

With an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, it is no surprise that Dr. Yasuda feels an affinity toward physical medicine. It is sometimes appropriate to use a mechanical analogy for the body, such as a car: if the structure isn’t sound then it’s function will be impaired. However, once we repair the structure then function will be restored. Generally speaking, structural problems in the body involve a loss of motion and physical medicine restores function by restoring motion. Visceral manipulation can restore motion to vital organs such as your stomach and liver, craniosacral and biocranial techniques can restore motion to the cranium and nervous system, myofascial release can restore motion to the musculoskeletal system, etc. These techniques and more are all tools that Dr. Yasuda has used and taught for many years.

The body can heal itself under the right circumstances. Therefore, Dr. Yasuda seeks to create the conditions to allow for healing, supporting each patient’s healing process according to their individual needs, not just their diagnosis, because every body is different: we all have different needs, wants, strengths, weaknesses, stories…we cannot assume that one person’s journey to health will be the same as anyone else’s. Therefore, appointments allow ample time to hear your story and incorporate interventions such as physical medicine, homeopathy, counseling, diet and lifestyle interventions. Dr. Yasuda feels honored to be able to help patients navigate their path of healing with more grace and ease.

Meet Dr. Colleen Jamieson

Dr. Colleen is passionate about helping you find your way towards your true essence, an essence filled with freedom to be exactly who you were designed to be. This looks like embracing mind, body spirit and connection. This looks like an exciting journey to rediscover what motivates and drives you. What is it that makes your soul sing?

Dr. Colleen began her professional journey with a fascination for psychology and human nature and through work at an inpatient behavioral health hospital she soon learned that our siloed way of viewing the world was limiting true healing. She wanted to understand how the body and mind conjoined to create illness but more importantly, she wanted to learn how they came together to create health. This is how she found Bastyr University where she received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. She extended her training to 5 years so she could pursue extra training in Visceral manipulation Craniosacral Therapy, Homeopathy, Holistic counseling and a 2-year mentorship focusing on family constellation therapy. Having seen this work in her own life, she cannot wait to see how your life blooms.

She is delighted to join Dr. Greg Yasuda at Water and Stone Wellness where she hopes to partner with you on your health journey.

When she’s not meeting incredible souls, she loves adventuring with her pup Cardamom. She never imagined her life could feel as rich and rewarding as it does and it is her honor to help others find the same.
